چکیده
Executive Summary Western Research Institute (WRI) and its cosponsor Novinda Corporation (the Company was originally known as Amended Silicates, Inc.) proposed the development, characterization and testing of sorbents based on clay deposits abundant in Wyoming for the in-flight capture of mercury in pulverized coal derived flue gasses. As a part of the State of Wyoming’s Clean Coal Technologies Research Program, a two-year sorbent development and testing program was successfully concluded such that Amended Silicates® is now a patented, commercially available mercury removal sorbent. Amended Silicates® is the first non-carbon reagent which preserves fly ash use in concrete. Amended Silicates® offers economic and environmental advantages not available with other mercury removal products.

Comparative study of the Sevoflurane Asorption Capacity on Carbon Media Impregnated with Titanium Oxide Nanoparticles
Introduction: Occupational exposure to sevoflurane as an anesthetic gases in hospitals, dental clinics and veterinary clinics has been reported in various studies. Considering the harmful effects of sevoflurane anesthetic gas on the health of exposed personnel such as reproductive, preterm delivery and fetal abnormalities and increased spontaneous abortion, it is necessary to remove them from t...
متن کاملEvaluation and Comparison of Novel, Low-cost Sorbents for Mercury Control
The injection of sorbents upstream of a particulate control device is one of the most promising methods for controlling mercury emissions from coal-fired utility boilers with electrostatic precipitators and fabric filters. Studies carried out at the bench-, pilot-, and fullscale have shown that a wide variety of factors may influence the mercury removal effectiveness. These factors include merc...
متن کاملCritical evaluation and comparison of enrichment efficiency of multi-walled carbon nanotubes, C18 silica and activated carbon towards some pesticides from environmental waters.
In this work, optimization of multi-residue solid phase extraction (SPE) procedures coupled with high-performance liquid chromatography for the determination of Propoxur, Atrazine and Methidathion from environmental waters is reported. Three different sorbents were used in this work: multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs), C18 silica and activated carbon (AC). The three optimized SPE procedures...
متن کاملAdsorption of Ammonia on Regenerable Carbon Sorbents
Results are presented on the development of reversible sorbents for the combined carbon dioxide, moisture, and trace-contaminant (TC) removal for use in Extravehicular Activities (EVAs), and more specifically in the Primary Life Support System (PLSS). The currently available life support systems use separate units for carbon dioxide, trace contaminants, and moisture control, and the long-term o...
متن کاملMechanisms of Mercury Capture and Breakthrough on Activated Carbon Sorbents
An extensive series of studies was performed at the Energy & Environmental Research Center with mercury (Hgo) sorbents in a thin bed using combinations of various flue gas constituents. This work determined that all the sorbents exhibited breakthrough in about I hour in the full flue gas mixture, and the mercury emitted after breakthrough is an oxidized mercury species. Trapping of the oxidized...
